Katerina Lalaouni constitutes the new spirit of a jewelry maker’s family with a history of four generations. Together with her sister Maria were taught how to design jewelries by their father Ilias Lalounis, a multi awarded man who established an international school of jewelries based on Greek designs. Ilias Lalaounis was the first to recreate ancient Greek jewelries (in 1956), inspired by ancient jewelries and designs. Lalaounis family jewelries bring past and present together and are basically influenced by numerous design sources such as the Neolithic era, the Mycenaean and Byzantine art, the pre-Colombian architecture, the African designs, science (DNA) and nature (Chaos Harmony and Ecology). The family has also established a jewelry museum in Athens. Of course Santorini island could not be absent from the aforementioned list of inspiration sources, as its famous frescos with the lilies and the swallows have been printed on numerous jewelry designs. You can find them in Lalaounis store in Santorini together with other famous collections.
