Ancient Thira

The archaeological site of Thira dates back to the 8th century B.C. The Lacedaemonians built Thira and named it after their leader. Wake up early –or do not sleep at all!– to drive to Kamari and then continue on foot. Besides the historical significance of the site, you will also have the chance to enjoy the spectacular view. Here you will see the Agora, the Sanctuary of Artemidoros, the Royal Stoa, the temple of Dionysus, the Sanctuary of Appolo Karneios, the Ancient Thira Cemeteries and the Theatre.
