Dimitris Koliousis

Painter

It was one summer evening in 1978 when painter Dimitris Koliousis came from Ioannina to Armeni, a picturesque bay in Oia. Located in the central road of Oia, his atelier retains its originality and, as he says, ‘whatever non-authentic, is foreign to me’. Sitting in front of his huge canvas, having around him his angels and saints, beautifully painted in unique colors,  he explains: “Talent is a charisma that one has to share with others, for part of it belongs to them“. He considers his most important artistic work to be the icons he created for the historical Episkopi Gonia Church . As for the future, he is about to get into modern painting, which he considers to be ‘difficult’, for he feels the need to say things about today’s reality. His calmness, spiritual words and authentic character render him a real artist. ‘I have never painted as a child, that’s why I admire children’s paintings’, he says modestly.
